Native American Sweat Lodge
Call for times and directions. POC: 719-442-0929
INIPI INFORMATION:
Many Native American Indian tribes have age old ceremonies in which the Inipi or Sweatlodge is used for purification, cleansing, and prayer.
Keeping the tradition of this ceremony has been vitally important to the preservation of Native American culture and spirituality.
Until recent history this sacred ceremony was reserved strictly for men.
Today the changing times have allowed some lodges to accept women, into what are called “mixed lodges”.
The He Ska Akicita Inipi (Colorado Warriors Sweatlodge) has been held on post for about 12 years, and is here for native people, military personnel, dependants, and DOD personnel. This sweatlodge is a traditional Lakota ceremony sponsored by the Fort Carson Chaplain Command. All nations are welcome.

Chaplains at Fort Carson are committed to serving you in providing the context for faith based weddings. Soldiers who desire to be married in a chapel should meet the requirement for premarital counseling and contact their unit chaplain.
Weddings at Fort Carson are arranged through a Soldier’s unit chaplain.
The chaplain and chaplain assistant will be your sponsors for arrangements at the chapel in which you will be married. Chaplains normally require some personal counseling with the couple, so as to better know you and your wedding preferences, and to insure that your own denominational requirements can be met. After meeting with the chaplain, please complete the chapel’s reservation form. Most couples will benefit from a rehearsal the day prior to the wedding. With these steps, good communication, and God’s grace and blessing, Soldiers can look forward to a positive beginning for their marriage. It is an exciting and special time for you and the chaplain. Start early and plan for your special day!
