Acceptable Forms of ID for Unescorted Access & Identity Proofing

The following forms of ID are recognized for unescorted installation access:

  • DOD common access card (CAC)
  • DD form 2 A (ACT) (active-duty military identification card)
  • DD form 2 (ACT/RES) (armed forces of the United States – Geneva
  • Conventions Identification Card – active and reserves)
  • DD form 2 (RET) (United States uniformed identification card – retired)
  • DD form 2S (ACT/RES) (armed forces of the United States - Geneva conventions identification card – active and reserve)
  • DD form 2S (RET/RES RET) (United States uniformed identification card – retired and reserve retired)
  • United States government issued authenticated federal PIV credentials
  • DD form 1173 (United States uniformed services identification and privilege card – personnel 18 years old and older
  • DA form 1602 (civilian identification and Gold Star Families – only after NCIC-III check)
  • Fort Carson issued access badge or pass

The following forms of ID are recognized for identity proofing for badge and pass issuance:

  • Valid state-issued driver’s license. All state issued IDs must be in compliance with the Department of Homeland Security REAL ID Act. NOTE: State issued IDs which state “Not Valid for Federal Identification” are not authorized as a form of federal identification for installation access or identity proofing.
  • DA form 1602 (civilian identification and Gold Star Families)
  • The Transportation Security Agency (TSA) issued transportation worker identification credential (TWIC)
  • DD form 2574 (Armed Forces Exchange Services ID and privilege) Air Force (AF) form 354 (civilian ID)
  • DD form 1934 (Geneva Convention ID card for medical and religious personnel)
  • DD form 2764 (US DOD/Uniformed Services civilian Geneva Convention ID)
  • DD form 489 (Geneva Convention ID card for civilians)
