1.7 Maintaining the IDG

Tthe IDG is a "living document," keeping it up-to-date and accurate is essential to its usefulness.  It will be revised as mission, budget, guidance, standards, and user feedback require.

In accordance with AR 210-20, Master Planning for Army Installations, the Installation Real Property Planning Board (RPPB) is the adjudicating body for the Installation Design Guide at the installation level. Violations and variances from standards will be reviewed and adjudicated by the RPPB.  The Garrison Commander will chair an Installation Planning Board (IPB) to review and approve the RPPB's actions.

Fort Carson is an active and dynamic installation, which is constantly changing and developing.  Any set of guidelines developed to control or direct the visual environment of the post must be adaptable to such change. A comprehensive review every five years will keep this document current and effective and allow it to adapt with the development of Fort Carson.  At these five year reviews, three important factors need to be studied.

·         Mission.

·         Major functional changes.

·         Effectiveness of design guidance.

The responsibility for reviewing and updating the IDG resides with the Directorate of Public Works, Master Planning Division, but it is also imperative to involve other associated Divisions, Directorates, and installation Stakeholders.
