2.4.5 Self Help Projects
- Project requests for self help projects to include a DA Form 4283 with a definitive proejct justification, a Bill of Materials, a floor plan and/or sketch/design. This information will be submitted to the DPW and will include the required Design Team IDG Checklist discussed below.
- Project and all attachments will be submitted to the Directorate of Public Works (DPW), Business Management Division (BMD), and Customer Service Branch (CSB) for review, staffing, cost estimate and approval.
- Once project had been approved, a funding letter must be signed by the appropriate approval authorities and funding verified by the Directorate of Resource Management.
- Approved, funded self-help projects are sent to the Troop Construction Branch of the DPW for the process of assigning the Inspector, purchasing/ordering materials, and scheduling of the review/inspection process.
- All self-help projects must be performed by a qualified R&U person, a licensed professional electrician, plumber, landscaper, equipment operator, etc. These projects must be accomplished while adhering to the laws, regulations, and standards as set forth in this IDG. The Troop Projects Inspectors are required to oversee the progress of these projects ensuring codes are met, safety and fire regulations are met and the overall project is progressing according to acceptable construction codes.
- All completed self-help projects will undergo a final inspection by the Troop Construction Inspector.
