4.2.13 Noise

NOISE

Fort Carson maintains an Installation Environmental Noise Management Plan (IENMP) which includes discussions of noise and vibration, mitigation techniques, noise abatement procedures, encroachment issues, and noise modeling for Fort Carson.  Fort Carson noise concerns and impacts stem from the low-frequency impulsive noise generated by artillery fire, explosives, and demolition.  If a designer plans to build on Fort Carson near the Butts Airfield or near a large caliber range, it is suggested that noise mitigation be considered during the design phase.  For questions concerning the noise program and information on current noise contours for Fort Carson please contact DECAM.  The current points of contact are listed in Appendix B.
