5.3.2.3 Assets

5.3.2.3.1 Site Planning
  • Organizational grouping of buildings around a battalion create a campus atmosphere and internal pedestrian spaces with some use of courtyards, gazebos, and other site amenities.
  • Parking lots are adequately separated from barracks and living quarters.

5.3.2.3.2 Buildings
  • For the most part, buildings are consistent in architectural character within the troop quads.
  • While coordinating with the material pallet, unique building elements and masses identify chapels, gyms, clubs, dining halls, dental clinics, and dispensaries within troop housing areas.

5.3.2.3.3 Circulation
  • Pedestrian walks pass through courtyards to connect barracks with other troop related facilities.
5.3.2.3.4 Plant Materials
  • Mature landscaping softens the visual environment in the older areas, Zone B2.
  • Street tree plantings have been initiated along Magrath and Barkeley Avenues.
  • Gravel groundcover and evergreen tree groupings provide visual continuity in Zone B2.

5.3.2.3.5 Site Elements
  • Most of the utility lines in the area are located underground.

5.3.2.3.6 Force Protection
  • Force protection setbacks are accommodated in some of the areas.
