5.3.8 open space within the cantonment area - h

This section addresses all open space within the cantonment area.
These open spaces vary in use and function around the
installation. In some cases the open space contains wetlands, in
another location it provides an area for the troops to train, elsewhere
the open space may be part of a park or next to a trail. Open spaces
on an installation are just a critical as built up spaces are.
Careful attention needs to be paid to open spaces during master planning
and site selection efforts. A nice open field might be attractive
for a new facility but this same field might be critical for troop
training. If a facility is built on this open space the troop
training function will now be displaced and an acceptable new location for
this function will need to be found.
