8.11.1 Asbestos Management Plan (AMP)The Asbestos Management Plan (AMP) applies to the United States Army post at Fort Carson and Pinon Canyon Maneuver Site. The procedures herein also apply to contractors and to visitors while present on Fort Carson. This AMP sets forth the activities and procedures designed to identify and control Asbestos Contained Materials (ACM) hazards in facilities at Fort Carson. Asbestos hazards are created when ACM is disturbed by actions such as construction, deconstruction, renovation, accidents, deterioration, or disturbing the soil. The AMP also describes procedures to minimize ACM hazards by proper management of materials in place. The Asbestos Program is designed to protect the health and safety of all persons who may come into contact with on-site ACM and to comply with regulations set forth by EPA, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and all appropriate state and local regulatory agencies.
