8.14.9.2 Troop Administrative Facilities

The troop administrative facilities function as the central office, workplace, and meeting area for the troops.  One main interior design theme should be developed for all troop administrative buildings allowing for variations to be reflected in unit specific features.  The entry point for visitors should include an area for company flags, emblems, and awards.  Signage needs to be clear and concise to avoid confusion.  A neutral color scheme should be used throughout the building with accent colors highlighting the various unit functions.  Materials and finishes need to be durable and easy to clean.  Fluorescent lighting should be used with variation in the fixture type for different applications.  Furniture should be ergonomic in design for comfort and efficiency in this work environment.  Certain tasks may require specifically designed furniture.

The troop administrative facilities are the main point of contact for the unit’s soldiers.  The interior should support and reflect the building’s varied functions.  Key elements to making the interior portion of the troop administrative facilities successful are:
