All vending machines must be placed inside buildings.  Written approval from DPW must be obtained if vending machines are to be placed at the exterior of buildings.  Appropriate spaces within the buildings will be provided, if possible.  If there is not available space in an existing building, contact the building manager for recommendations.  Vending machines are not a visual asset to any building and do not complement the standards identified in this document.  Before considering having a vending machine installed, contact the customer service desk at DPW.  There are building infrastructure concerns that may need to be evaluated to ensure a building can support vending machines.  Concerns include space, air conditioning, (vending machines produce a considerable amount of heat), and consume electrical power.

11.3.15.2 Newspaper Vending Machines

Newspaper vending machines are only allowed at community service facilities and should be concentrated adjacent to the primary building entrance only.  They should be grouped together and, if possible, contained within the building vestibule or lobby.  If they must be placed outside, use a location that building users will readily see, but one that is somewhat screened from view from the rest of the site.  These items are not a visual asset to any location and do not compliment the standards identified in this document.
