B.3.11 Underground Utilities

To locate existing or suspected existing underground cable routes, initiate a dig permit through the Base OPS Contractor, (719) 526-3089

NOTE:  Contractor (Offerors) shall be responsible to determine that all of the existing service utilities are of sufficient capacity to accommodate all of the design loads for this total facility.  Should a Contractor (Offeror) determine that one or more of the existing service utilities are not adequate to accommodate the Contractor’s (Offeror’s) design loads for this total facility, then the Contractor (Offeror) shall submit with his initial and any subsequent proposal (Best & Final Offer), the requirements, design data and the price for increasing the capacity of each existing service utility system or for providing a new service utility system. 

Design loads for this facility shall be calculated in accordance with the criteria specified in this Request for Proposals (RFP), with the most stringent criteria governing.  The responsibility for verification and field location of any and all information provided in the RFP and on any attached or enclosed drawings, or other documents shall be and is the responsibility of the Contractor (Offeror).

All primary underground conductors shall meet Fort Carson cable standards, type (EPR) with concentric neutral.

Underground electric shall be buried at the depth of 24" when encased in concrete and 42" when direct bury.

UNDERGROUND PVC CONDUIT. Install electrical underground to the maximum extent possible. Conductors shall be buried in schedule 40 PVC with the exception of schedule 80 when burying under roads or heavy traffic areas. Concrete encasement is an option of the designer.

EXTERIOR ELECTRIC: Primary voltage at Fort Carson is 12,470/7200V. Overhead to underground transitions shall adhere to attached standards. Where are the standards?)

All new exterior electric shall be installed underground only. 
New overhead electric shall be installed by permission only.
Use pad mounted transformers with bayonet fusing loop feed.
Use load break material only.
