B.3.2 Foundation Information

Area soils frequently exhibit a tendency for sulfate attack on concrete they are in contact with.  As a result, all concrete that will be adjacent to or near the soil will be designed to be sulfate resistant (Tyep 11 or V) unless soil tests show there will not be a problem.

  • Frost depth shall be 60".

  • Drainage - Exterior downspouts shall drain into underground piping systems that carry water away from buildings, either to daylight or storm drain systems.

  • Due to the expansive clay material commonly found on the post, recommend no foundation plantings for at least IO' from building foundations.

  • Grades shall slope a minimum of 2% from foundations within the first 10'.

  • Dig Permits - Per Fort Carson Regulation 420-20, any type of digging or excavation requires prior approval of the DPW and a proper dig permit which specifically addresses the work to be conducted for the project.

  • Contact the DPW, BASOPS Contractor at (719) 526-5345 to obtain a dig permit once you receive the approved DA Form 4283 from the DPW, Customer Service.
