B.5.11 Storm Water Retention Basins

Run off from the roofs of buildings, sidewalks, streets and parking lots contribute to the increasing volume of water in the drainages and streams.  This may result in flooding, and accelerated erosion and sedimentation.  Oils, greases, fuels, salts and gravel from paved surfaces may contribute to altering the drainages.  Retention ponds constructed on site near buildings and parking lots can trap these materials before entering the drainages.  With proper landscaping these could be an asset to Fort Carson contributing to the quality of life.

Construction of Retention Ponds.  Design guidance for construction of storm water retention ponds is included in Section B.5.17.1.
