B.5.2.7 PaintingAny painting activity conducted outside of an authorized paint booth, If a permanent paint booth is to be installed, advance coordination is required with the DECAM Air Program for permitting with the state. For structural painting, use paints free of RCRA listed metals. No VOC permit reporting requirements. Determine if paint preparation will release particulates containing heavy metals or asbestos prior to project start-up. Link to Facility Upgrades. Paint used for road striping must be approved by the DECAM in advance. The paint must contain low volatile organic compounds and hazardous air pollutants and be lead-free. The contractor must submit proposed paint MSDSs to the DECAM Air Program prior to painting operations for approval. If approved, the contractor must submit monthly paint usage reports by the 15th of every month for the previous month to the DECAM Air Program. An exception to this is if DPW’s O&M contractor is used for the project, as its contractor is already using approved traffic paints and submitting monthly reports. Motor pool hardstand areas will not be striped. Only safety/fire markings will be painted in these areas. |
