Systems Support Division
The System Support Division (SSD) is responsible for all IT Server, Systems and Specialized Tactical services on Fort Carson. The Division provides advanced user services such as server and systems administration support, email, data back-up/restore, 24 x 7 tactical reach back, secure and non-secure network access account management, web management and a secure data center. Network system and computer support with enhanced security layers, is provided to assist with both hardware and software maintenance to the end users. The Systems Support Division is a Team of seasoned IT professionals prepared to support a large Installation when given the most demanding IT requirements.
Branches
- Systems Management Branch (SMB)
- SMB supports about 9,000 Fort Carson email accounts and about 10,000 user accounts. The branch is responsible for every non-tactical system and application system located within the NEC. SMB manages all Tier I, II and III server maintenance, tuning, performance and account builds.
- Systems exist to ensure that all computer users at Fort Carson and attached entities have functional and accessible automated systems, in accordance with AR 25-1, DA Pamphlet 25-1-1 and DoDD 8109.2.
- The SMB also handles all of the web services for the Fort Carson Mountain Post.
- Tactical Support Branch (TSB)
- TSB provides information technology support and training to Fort Carson deployable forces that ensures their survivability, maximizing battlefield success, and their safe return. The Tactical Support Branch enables the Warfighters with tools and expertise to be able to "Train-As-You-Fight" and assisting in providing a network that provides the user a "Work and Train-As-You-Fight" or "Deployed-In-Garrison" operational philosophy. The "Deployed-in-Garrison" concept supports the deploying forces modularity and assists in achieving a "Plug-&-Play" or "Undock and Dock" functionality for deployable units. The Tactical Support Branch provides support to the Warfighters wherever and whenever possible for additional scenarios when the manpower, equipment, and expertise are available
- The Tactical Support Branch duties and services include but are not limited to the following. Plan and Coordinate Tactical Registration ISO Deployable Forest (DF) Forest. Provide IT Planning and OPS ISO Unit ARFORGEN Cycle and Training Gates. Provide 24/7 IT Tactical Support ISO DF Forest Enterprise Services. Assist and Train Brigades with the BCCS aka "Tactical Stacks or Suites", CPOF Server, and DCGS-A Server. Support Encrypted 802.11, Encrypted 802.16, VoIP, VoSIP and WAN Acceleration technology. Support DCGS-A, CIDNE, and TIGRNET Intelligence Servers. Provide and Support Reach-Back and COOP Solutions. Establish and Maintain Tactical support proficiencies.
