Fort Carson, the "Mountain Post," is located just south of Colorado Springs at the base of the Rocky Mountains. Colorado Springs' unparalleled beauty and mild climate make it a gateway to a wide variety of outdoor activities. Many internationally-known ski areas, some of the nation's most scenic parks and finest hunting and fishing areas are located within a short drive. Fort Carson families also have easy access to the many cultural attractions of "The Springs" and the bright lights of Denver.

4th Infantry Division and Fort Carson builds and maintains combat ready expeditionary forces necessary to fight and win in complex environments as members of a Joint, Interagency, Intergovernmental, and Multinational (JIIM) team or as a Mission Command Element (MCE); provides first class support to Soldiers, Airmen, Civilians, and Families; and enables unified action with community, state, and interagency partners to accomplish all assigned missions.
The Mountain Post Garrison Team provides units mission support and services including quality of life programs for the Fort Carson Soldiers, Families and the community to enable forces to execute expeditionary operations and to minimize stress on Soldiers and Families in a time of persistent conflict.
