Q: Where are we going to be staying?

You may wish to stay at the LaQuinta Inn, Crown Plaza Hotel, or Comfort Inn. The current rate is $69 - $80 a night per room.

Reservations need to be made as soon as possible. Please make sure that you tell the hotel that you are with the "Mountain Post Warrior Memorial Ceremony 2011" when you make your reservations.

This suggestion is not an endorsement by the U.S. Army, but is provided as a service to our fallen Soldiers' Families.

Q: Do I need a rental car?

No, transportation will be provided to and from the airport, hotel, and the ceremony.


Q: Will the Media be present?

Yes


Q: Will child-care be provided?

Yes, child-care is available, but needs to be reserved through your escort officer.


Q: How much can I expect to pay for food?

Plan for approximately $15-$20 per person per meal; more if eating at nicer restaurants. Free continental breakfasts are usually provided at the hotels. There will be finger foods at he reception following the ceremony.


Q: What will the weather be like?

An average day for 21 May is: High of 50 and Low of 23.


Q: What should I wear?

Business attire for civilian guests. Be prepared for rain, cold, and inclement weather.


Q: How long is the ceremony?

The ceremony will be approximately an hour long followed by a reception at the Elkhorn. There will be a brief meeting at the Soldier's Memorial Chapel prior to the ceremony. Families should plan on departing the hotel by 7:30 AM and returning to the hotel around 2:30 PM.


Q: What will be required of me during the ceremony?

Nothing is required. Families will be able to put a flower by the stone and have personal time immediately after the ceremony. Flowers will be provided.


Q: What agencies will be represented at the ceremony?

Following the ceremony, you will have an opportunity to meet with representatives from the following offices: Chaplin, Housing, Property Shipping, Finance, Legal, and Casualty Affairs.


Q: What restraunts are near the hotels?

Chili's, Outback Steak House, Carrabas, Burger King, Subway, and Arby's.


Q: Will there be a ceremony every year?

Yes, each year on Memorial Day weekend.
