Description: This course satisfies the mandatory refresher training specified in the Defense Transportation Regulation, DOD 4500.9-R. Course content reviews changes to Department of Transportation (DOT) and Department of Defense (DoD) regulations as well as changes to United Nations standard packaging, marking, labeling, and hazard communications requirements. Discussion encompasses changes applicable to the various modes of transport (i.e., land, vessel, military and commercial air).

Length: 1 Week

Audience: Personnel from all services who perform functions relative to the transportation of hazardous materials including preparation, packaging, marking, labeling and documentation.

Prerequisites: Satisfactory completion of a previous 80-hour (AMMO-62) hazardous materials transportation course as required by AFJMAN 24-204, or DoD 4500.9-R. Personnel taking this course should be familiar with the DOT Hazardous Materials Regulations as published in appropriate titles of Code of Federal Regulations and have prior experience of military regulations and programs pertaining to transportation of hazardous materials.

It is strongly recommended that if a person has not certified hazardous materials shipments on a regular basis since completing a previous prerequisite 80-hour course (or a subsequent refresher), that they consider taking the prerequisite 80-hour course to satisfy the re-certification requirement.

Availability: Ammo-37 is available as an instructor-led course. Admission to the course is by nomination from the prospective student's command. If the nominating command has access to ATRRS, the submission must be made via ATRRS.

Tuition: Fees will not be assessed to military personnel or civilian employees of DOD agencies; however, all contractors and civilian employees of non-DOD agencies requesting training are obligated to pay tuition at the rate of $1,000 per student. Tuition payments may be mailed to the DAC Training Directorate in the form of check or by credit card via a phone call to our Registrar.
