COL Todd Heussner is a native of Fort Meyers, Florida. He graduated from Stetson University in May 1989 with a degree in Political Science and Philosophy. Commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Field Artillery, he entered active duty at Fort Sill on July 4, 1989.
Upon graduation form Officer Basic Course he was assigned to 6th Battalion, 41st Field Artillery in Kitzingen, Germany. Serving as a Company Fires Support Officer for 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment and 4th Battalion 66th Armor, he deployed to Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm where he fired numerous missions at the enemy. Upon return from Germany, he was assigned to the 6th Battalion, 41st Field Artillery at Ft. Stewart, Georgia where he served as the Reconnaissance and Survey Officer and the HHB Executive Officer. He was branch detailed to the Quartermaster Corps and departed Ft. Stewart to attend Combined Logistics Officer Advanced Course (CLOAC) at Ft. Lee in December of 1993.
After completing CLOAC, COL Heussner was sent back to Kitzingen, Germany where he served as the General Supply Officer of the 3rd Infantry Division and as the A Company Commander of the 703rd Main Support Battalion. Upon completion of Company Command he was selected to command a POW/MIA search and recovery team stationed at Hickam Air Force Base Hawaii. He and his team completed 14 missions and recovered the remains of 18 Soldiers previously listed as missing in action. Upon completion of his tour in Hawaii, COL Heussner was selected to pursue a master's degree in logistics management through the Florida Institute of Technology. Upon graduation he attended the Command and General Staff College at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas.
Immediately after completion of Command and General Staff College he was assigned to the 4th Infantry Division. COL Heussner deployed with the 2nd "War Horse" Brigade as the Support Operations Officer in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. While deployed he become the battalion Executive Officer and re-deployed back to Ft. Hood. Upon his return, COL Heussner served as the Chief of the Division Material Management Center where he was responsible for the re-set of the Division's equipment for eventual return to combat. Most recently Todd was assigned to the 13th Sustainment Command Support Operations Office where he helped establish modular logistics systems and procedures at Ft. Hood.
