Lieutenant Colonel Daniel H. Hibner
4th Engineer, Fort Carson
Lieutenant Colonel Daniel H. Hibner commissioned from Kemper Military College as a Distinguished Military Graduate and was commissioned as an Infantry Officer in the U.S. Army Reserve in 1993. After serving in the USAR 70th Infantry Division for three years, he was assessed Active Duty as an Engineer Officer and attended the Engineer Officer Basic Course in 1996. His first active duty assignment was Platoon Leader of 1st Platoon, C Company, 65th Engineer BN, Schofield Barracks Hawaii. He also served as the 65th Engineer Battalion Maintenance Officer before attending the Engineer Officer Advanced Course in 1999.
From 2000 to 2003 he served in the 11th Engineer Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team (BCT), 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Georgia as the 1st BCT Assistant Brigade Engineer, the Battalion Adjutant and Company Commander of A Company. During this time he served in Kosovo in support of Operation Joint Guardian and deployed his Company to Kuwait in preparation for the invasion of Iraq as part of TF 3-69 Armor in March 2003. After his first tour in Iraq he was assigned to the New Orleans District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a Project Engineer and Construction Manager before deploying in 2005 as the Fallujah Resident Office OIC following the second battle of Fallujah. Upon redeployment he served as the New Orleans District Emergency Operations Center Chief and subsequently District Executive Officer following Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
After completing the Command and Staff College in 2007 and the Advanced Military Studies Program in 2008, he was assigned as a Maneuver Planner in the G5 Plans Section, 4th Infantry Division in Baghdad, Iraq. Upon redeployment in 2009, he served as Operations Officer for 1-8 Infantry Combined Arms Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team at Fort Carson, Colorado. In 2010 he deployed with 1-8 Infantry to Iraq and shortly after assumed the Operations Officer position for the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division. Most recently, LTC Hibner served as the Deputy Chief of Staff for the 4th Infantry Division.
LTC Hibner is a graduate of the Master Fitness Trainer Course, Engineer Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the Basic Motor Officer Course, the Combined Arms and Services Staff School, and the Command and General Staff College. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Purdue University, a Masters in Military Arts and Science from the School of Advanced Military Studies, and a Masters of Science in Engineering Management from the Missouri University of Science and Technology.
His awards and decorations include the Silver Star, the Bronze star (2 OLC), the Army Meritorious Service Medal (OLC), The Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), the Army Achievement Medal, the Meritorious Unit Citation, the Army Superior Unit Citation, the Ranger Tab, the Expert Infantryman Badge, the Basic Parachutist Badge, the Air Assault Badge, and the Bronze Order of the de Fleury Medal.
