Biography

Command Sergeant Major Douglas R. Maddi entered the Army in March 1988. His first duty assignment was with 2nd Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment at Fort Lewis WA. After serving a number of years at Fort Lewis he was stationed at the Florida Ranger Camp, Eglin Air Force Base in Florida where he served from 1995 to 1998 as a Ranger Instructor.

CSM Maddi then returned to the Ranger Regiment at Hunter Army Airfield, GA, in 1st Ranger battalion where he served as a Platoon Sergeant and Operations NCO until 2001. His next assignment was with the Reserve Officer Training Program at the University of Southern California.

After completion of his assignment in ROTC, CSM Maddi was then assigned to 1st Battalion 506th Infantry at Camp Greaves (South Korea), served a tour in Habbaniya (Iraq), and subsequently Fort Carson, Colorado. CSM Maddi graduated as a part of Class 58 of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy in 2007. CSM Maddi's subsequent assignment took him to Fort Polk, Louisiana, where he served as the Command Sergeant Major for 1st Battalion 509th Infantry (Airborne). CSM Maddi was then assigned to 2nd Battalion 30th Infantry Regiment in July 2009 where he deployed with the battalion in support of Operation Enduring Freedom XI (Afghanistan), redeploying with the battalion in October 2011.

CSM Maddi arrived at Fort Carson in January of 2012 and was assigned as the command sergeant major of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team.

CSM Maddi's awards and decorations include the Combat Infantryman Badge (2nd Award), the Ranger Tab, Pathfinder Badge and various other awards and decorations.
