Biography

COL Robert T. Ault is a Distinguished Military Graduate from California State University at San Bernardino. He was commissioned a Second Liteutenant of Aviation in 1989.

COL Ault was first assigned to 1-6th Calvary, Fort Hood, Texas where he served as a Scout Platoon Leader and a Support Platoon Leader. In 1994 following the Aviation Officer Advanced Course he served as the Airfield Commander for Camps Page and Eagle in the Republic of Korea. Next he was assigned to 2nd Battalion (Assault), 82nd Aviation Brigade, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina where he served as the Battalion S-4, the 504th Infantry Regimental Aviation Officer and in 1997 Company Commander for C CO 2-82 Assault. COL Ault was then assigned to the National Training Center, Fort Irwin, California where he served as a Company and Battalion level trainer.

After attending the Army Command and General Staff College and the School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS), COL Ault was assigned to the 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. In 2003 he served as the Division Chief of Plans, then as Chief of Plans for CJTF-76 in Bagram Afghanistan. In 2004 he served as Battalion Operations Officer for Task Force Diamond Head in Kandahar, Afghanistan and upon redeployment as the Battalion Executive Officer for 2d Battalion, 25th Aviation Regiment. Upon deployment to Iraq in 2006 he served as Deputy G3 for Multinational Division North, Iraq, and then as the Military Transition Team Chief for the Diyala Operations Command in Baqubah, Iraq.

In 2008 COL Ault assumed command of 4th Battalion 3rd Aviation Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia. The unit deployed to Afghanistan where it served as an Air-Ground Security Task Force. After command he was assigned to U.S. Army Forces Command at Fort Bragg N.C. as the Deputy Director of Army Aviation.

COL Ault is a graduate of: the National War College, The School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS), CGSC, The Jumpmaster Course, The Cavalry Leaders Course and The Aeroscout Course. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration from CSUSB, a Master’s Degree in International Relations from Webster University, a Master’s Degree in Military Art and Science, from the USACGSC and a Master’s degree in National Securities Studies from the National War College.

His awards include the Bronze Star with three oak leaf clusters, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal with four oak leaf clusters, Air Medal with numeral 4 device, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Combat Action Badge, Master Army Aviator Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge and Air Assault Badge.
