Biography

Major General Paul J. LaCamera is the Commanding General of the Fourth Infantry Division and Fort Carson, Colorado. A native of Massachusetts, he graduated and received his commission as an Infantry Officer from the United States Military Academy in 1985. Over the past 28 years he has served in multiple levels of command and staff positions in various Army and Joint units.

Major General LaCamera initially served as Rifle Platoon leader and Company Executive Officer with the 3rd Battalion, 504th Infantry, 82nd Airborne Division and then a Platoon leader, Support Platoon leader, and Assistant Logistics officer with 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment which included a deployment in support of Operation JUST CAUSE. He has held various staff positions to include: Liaison Officer for both 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment and the 75th Ranger Regiment; Operations Officer for 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry, 2d Infantry Division, Republic of Korea; Operations Officer and Executive Officer for 1st Battalion,75th Ranger Regiment; Regimental Operations Officer for the 75th Ranger Regiment; and Director of Operations for Joint Special Operations Command which included deployments in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQIFREEDOM.

Major General LaCamera has held commands at every level thru Brigade Command including B Company, 4th Ranger Training Battalion, Ranger Training Brigade; B Company, 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment which included a deployment in support of Operation UPHOLD DEMOCRACY; 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment which included a deployment in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM; 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment which included a deployment in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM; and the 75th Ranger Regiment which included deployments in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQIFREEDOM.

His General Officer assignments include service as the Assistant Commanding General, Joint Special Operations Command; Deputy Commanding General {Operations) for the 25th Infantry Division; and Deputy Commanding General for United States Special Operations Command. These assignments involved deployments in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, and Operation NEW DAWN.

Major General LaCamera has a Bachelor of Science Degree from the United States Military Academy and a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the United States Naval War College. His military education includes the Infantry Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, and the United States Naval War College.

Major General LaCamera is married and has four children.
